With the ToolBar menu, users can quickly and easily access many of the features of the Sandbox Editor through the toolbars and icons at the top of the screen. The following article is a brief summary of the default toolbars and settings that are available in Sandbox.
These toolbars can be configured to fit the preferences and needs of individual users. The various ways to customize the toolbars are explained in the Customization section below.
You can customize the icon size for the toolbar by setting ed_toolbarIconSize in Editor.cfg. By default, it's set to '0' (default of 32 pixels).
Right-click the Icon Bar to display the ToolBar settings menu. Selecting a toolbar from the list will display it on the ToolBar. Toolbars can be arranged horizontally at the top of the Editor, vertically on the edges, or completely un-docked from the editor.
The standard toolbar contains open, save, hold, and fetch options.
The EditMode ToolBar contains various tools for general level editing. Buttons include undo and redo, link and unlink, selection filter, object selection, movement, rotation, scaling and terrain selection. Gizmo axes alignment, locking movement to X,Y,Z, XY, terrain, terrain and objects. Snap to grid and angle with quick access to pre-defined settings. Ruler, select objects, named selection sets, delete named selection sets, save and load objects and active layer selection.
The Object ToolBar contains tools for object alignment options and physics tools for manipulating objects. The buttons are goto selected object (shortcut [Z]), align selection, align object to grid, set object(s) height, align object to the terrain surface normal (hold CTRL for object surface normal alignment), and freeze and unfreeze selected objects. Reset physics state, get physics state and simulate physics on selected objects.
The Terrain ToolBar contains shortcuts to the Terrain Editor, Terrain Texture Layers, and Terrain Lighting dialog box.
The Dialogs ToolBar contains icons used to access the Materials Editor, Mannequin Editor, Character Tool, DataBase View, the Flow Graph Editor, Asset Browser and the Audio Controls Editor (ACE).
Toggles various Debug Views, used for profiling performance.
The Environment Modes Toolbar lets you toggle quickly various environment variables which helps with debugging yoru scene.

The View Modes Toolbar contains icons, which toggle render modes in the viewport quickly by adjusting environment variables.

The Customize dialog box allows users to customize preset toolbars, as well as create custom user toolbars.
This button allows you to create a new custom toolbar. On pressing the button, a prompt will appear requesting a name for the new toolbar.
This button allows you to rename any of the custom toolbars you have created.
This button allows you to delete any of the custom toolbars you have created.
Returns any changes made to the toolbars back to default.
This tab allows you to drag and drop any of the icons in the Commands box into any toolbar.

Always show full menus | Always shows full menus even if a skin customizes menus to only show frequently used items. |
Show full menus after a short delay | After a short delay, the full menu will be displayed if a skin collapses the menu to only show frequently used items. |
Reset menu and toolbars usage data | Deletes the record of the commands that you've used in the Editor, restoring the defaults. |

Menu animations | Changes how menus are displayed. Options include:(System default), Random, Unfold, Slide, Fade, and None. |
This drop down list allows the user to select the different categories displayed in the Main Menu, which will be displayed in the Commands window below.
Displays the elements of the selected category list.
Displays any keyboard shortcuts assigned to the selected element.
Click within this text box with an element selected and select a key that will potentially be assigned to the selected element.
