Get tips on how to prepare from a CryENGINEER who took part last year
We love supporting indie developers and encouraging everyone to have fun with game creation, and that’s why we’re proud to be a sponsor of Global Game Jam, taking place January 25-27 2019. Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game jam event, where people from all backgrounds and experiences come together to create games based around a secret theme, in just 48 hours, at locations all around the world.
Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to game development altogether, Global Game Jam is great way to have fun, learn, push boundaries, and join a worldwide community celebrating creativity, collaboration, and making cool games.
CRYENGINE is designed for rapid iteration which makes it perfect for this kind of event. We spoke to Mohamed Trabelsi, part of a team that used CRYENGINE last year for Global Game Jam, to find out why he chose CRYENGINE, and discover some tips for anyone thinking about entering the event this year.
“I did a little search about game engines, and I found CRYENGINE had good graphics and is easy to use so I chose it. Anyone can use CRYENGINE to create a simple mini-game in 48 hours! CRYENGINE is a complete solution. You can make a game without using an external tool, and even if you don't know how to code you can create the game logic and other functions by using Flow Graph.
“If you’re entering this year, choose a simple project that you think you can finish in a short time. Then focus on gameplay. Be ready to get imaginative, and also prepare yourself because you will want to stay awake for a long time to complete your project. At the end, many people tested out my game, as it was ready to play, and they really enjoyed it!”
If you’re interested in finding out more about how you can join Mohammed and developers all over the world during this year’s event, including finding a location near you, check out the official Global Game Jam website.
If you’re entering, let us know how you’re preparing in the comments, on the forum, and via Facebook and Twitter. Don’t forget to join the community and our CRYENGINE development team over on our official Discord channel.
