Powered by CRYENGINE, Wolcen Lords of Mayhem is a dynamic hack’n’slash game currently in Early Access on Steam. Today, we check in with their progress.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is an ambitious, beautiful action RPG with fast-paced combat based on weapon combos. There are no class restrictions, so you can play your way as you level up. From Wolcen Studio, based in Nice, France, the game allows you to shape-shift into a customized apocalyptic avatar of destruction, and who wouldn’t want to do that?

Set in a shattered and corrupted world of deep lore, you can battle alone or with friends online to uncover ancient truths, hidden secrets, and of course, pick up loads of loot as you take on hordes of smart enemies and deadly elite bosses. Following a successful beta phase, the game launched in Early Access on Steam at the end of March and work is progressing towards their first major content drop, slated for mid-June.

Three brand new areas are coming to the game in the first patch. Burning Camp and Coast of Wrecks are dark, brooding, and atmospheric dungeons, while the new Forest area has been created in response to player feedback for an environment to explore by day.

The game is already beautiful and is set to look even more amazing with upgrades to in-game cinematics and dynamic scenes, plus the addition of more destroyable items and richer storytelling in the environments.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem will include new creatures in the content drop, and you’ll come across, for instance, bears and spiders in the Forest area.

There is also a range of new enemies, skill modifiers, enhanced dialog, new English VO, and much more arriving in the update. The team has also previewed their plans for the second content drop, planned for July, which will include a new “Wrath of Sarisel” cooperative Game mode, more player customization, a new active and passive skills section, plus a lot more.
