Vertex/Edge/Face

Overview

The Vertex/Edge/Face tools provide easy ways not only to select vertices, edges and faces but also to move the selected those elements.
A vertex or an edge or a face is usually called an element.

How to Use

Selection

Basically more than two buttons among Vertex, Edge and Face buttons can be selected at the same time by pressing the each button holding CTRL as follows.

There are 3 ways to select elements as follows.

  1. By clicking LMB on an element.
    This way allows you to select an element and cancel the existing selected elements

  2. By clicking LMB & CTRL on an element or Dragging LMB & CTRL from an element.
    This way allows you to select an element keeping the existing elements.

  3. By dragging a mouse holding LMB or LMB & CTRL from no element.
    This way allows you to select elements within a drawn rectangle.
    If you are holding CTRL, the existing selected faces will be kept. If not, they will be cancelled.

Transformation

  1. By Dragging a mouse holding LMB from an element. (3.6.5)
    The selected elements will follow the mouse cursor on the screen without the help of the gizmos.
    Holding SHIFT, the selected faces will be detached from the adjacent faces just as they are moved.

  2. By Manipulating gizmos.

    you can select the coordinates system among View, Local, Parent, World and Custom.

    Holding SHIFT, the selected elements will be detached from the adjacent faces just as they are transformed.

    1. Move - Moves the elements
    2. Rotate - Rotates the elements.
    3. Scale - Scales the elements.
